A new series of products that utilizes original technology that could be regarded as a reinvention of planar magnetic models – AFDS (Air Film Damping System).

With AFDS (Air Film Damping System), the planar magnetic model was rejuvenated. Leaving the excellence of the planar magnetic model (a featherweight vibration system & exceptional reproduction of high frequencies) as is, the employment of AFDS broadens the reproduction frequency band with a bass bias, plus makes the use of breatheable ear pads possible. Compared to the traditional planar magnetic model, with which tightly sealed ear pads had to be used to augment bass frequencies, the natural, open sound achieved is of a quality notably of being termed a reinvention.

A merger of the delicate high frequency ranges of planar magnetic models, plus the magnitude & open feel bass tones of dynamic models.

To establish AFDS, an exceedingly high level of precision compared to typical driver units is necessary. Because of this, the milled aluminum magnesium alloy housing has been machined with wonderful precision. By implementing the kind of leather like coating finish used with high-quality cameras, we’ve also taken measures against minute vibrations.
